The Richmond Inn has been relaunched under the management of the Tilley & Wills hotel group, which operates some of Sydney’s most iconic trendy pubs and bars, including the Greenwood Hotel, the Oxford Art Factory and the Beuna Vista Hotel.
Richmond Inn hotelier Nick Wills said the group decided to invest in Hawkesbury because “it is one of the nicest areas in Sydney”.
“A huge growth corridor has emerged in recent years and with increasing popularity with New South Wales day trippers, the Richmond Inn on the train line makes it very attractive and accessible to all,” said Mr. Wills said.
“Richmond has the best of both worlds: a country atmosphere but within reach of the suburbs. “
As part of a multi-million dollar renovation – which is now complete – new areas have been created, including the front porch and property with a glass atrium roof, the private Naughty Corner and a renovated bistro.
The Public Bar has mosaic-patterned floor tiles and a deep brass-topped bar, along with a cactus mural and several flat-screen TVs for entertainment.
The hostel claims to be the “largest beer garden in the Richmond area” and the outdoor space is dog-friendly.
The group’s executive chef, Brad Sloane, created the menu which features three different types of parmigiana, a Sunday roast and yard-long pizzas for group bookings. There is a dedicated kids menu and kids under 12 eat free on Mondays.
For events, there’s now an on-site function manager, and guests can book roaming sofa-backs, sit-down menus, Christmas parties, and even children’s events, including the petting zoo or the Rumpus room. A lineup will soon be announced for regular concerts and DJ performances.
Mr Wills said there is something for locals and outsiders at this new look hotel.
