Officer hospitalized after woman became combative at Holiday Inn in Nassau County, police say

An officer was hospitalized with multiple injuries after a woman became combative at a Long Island hotel, police said.

The events took place around 1 a.m. on Saturday January 1 at Carle Place.

Police were dispatched for a disturbance that had occurred at the Holiday Inn located at 369 Old Country Road.

Shortly after police arrived at the scene, they saw a man and a woman arguing, according to Nassau County Police.

As she tried to separate the two, the woman, identified as Amber Dickens, 28, of Lakeview, became physically combative, police said.

Police officers attempted to restrain her and she waved her arms, hitting an officer repeatedly, causing considerable pain in her neck, right knee and right wrist, police said.

Dickens also pushed the officer and spat in the face of another officer before he was ultimately placed under arrest, police said.

Dickens was transported by a Nassau County Police ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

A policeman was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.

Dickens has been accused of:

  • Assault on a police officer,
  • Hampering government administration,
  • Resist arrest.

She will be brought to justice in Hempstead Magistrates’ Court on Sunday January 2.
