New Fairfield Inn to Open in February Amid Supply Chain Problems | Free sharing

Supply chain issues seem to be one of the hottest topics of conversation across the country today.

A large number of consumer goods are increasingly difficult to find, including building materials, furniture and other household items. Despite this issue having a direct effect on the progress of the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott on Highway 431 in Albertville, the project is getting much closer to the finish line. For now, this finish line has been set for early February.

Marshall County’s very first all-suite hotel opened in December 2020. The opening date was originally set for this month (November). However, developer Wes Long said the project is not immune to supply chain issues.

“Much of what we expect on its overseas furniture and accessories,” he said. “In fact, a lot of what we’re waiting for is stuck on containers still parked in the ocean. A moratorium was also put on plasterboard in August, which also slowed progress. “

Long added that there are still lingering effects from the COVID-19 pandemic that caused the delay. Regardless, he said the hotel would open soon and be ready to serve Marshall County and surrounding areas.

“It will be a 79-room hotel with suites, a full fitness center and a swimming pool,” he said. “We started setting up a Marriott chain hotel in Marshall County in 2016. It was originally planned for Guntersville, but we’re very happy with the location. It is three and a half kilometers from the lake and very close to the Sand Mountain Park and Amphitheater.

Long added, “The pandemic has really changed the way people go on vacation. The idea of ”stay-cation” has become very popular. We have so much to do in this county with the lake and now Sand Mountain Park. We believe this Fairfield Inn will also be a tourist and business hot spot.

The Fairfield Inn and Suites is located across from Gilbert and Baugh Ford on 10 acres in a subdivision with commercial land still available. Several pieces have already been completed as the project draws to a close.

“The progressive leadership of Albertville Mayor Tracy Honea and business-friendly developers are bringing a first such hotel to Marshall County,” Long concluded. “Marriot is the largest hotel chain in the world and we are delighted to see this building nearing completion.”
