Main Street Inn: The Perfect Sag Harbor Vacation Spot

When staying in a place, I will always choose eclecticism, charm, serenity, personality and warmth over high-end hotels or places where the multitudes flock. When my friend Margarita asked me if I would be covering the Montauk Film Festival, I said yes and she told me she would arrange a hotel to stay at. I had to cancel the first night, because I had to cover Cirque Du Soliel. When she went back to the hotel to change that date, they were rude and mean, she canceled! She had a friend to help her and she found what used to be an Air B&B, but now a B&B that rents rooms, that comes with a fabulous breakfast of yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, muffins and of course coffee. This is served on the back deck which looks like the Secret Garden and overlooks Sag Harbor. It is called The Main Street Inn

The hostel is run by Linley and Anton Hagen, who couldn’t be more welcoming. They helped us with our luggage, made us feel at home and welcomed us with open arms. All tenants are introduced and feel like family. The artifacts around the house are filled with stories and times gone by when people collected art, old photos, tended gardens and were friendly. The hostel also offers kayaks and bikes, but we were too reserved for that.

It was Roy Scheider’s piano.

I recommend it to anyone in need of a vacation and wants to come back to New York or elsewhere rejuvenated.
