Construction of new Huntley Hampton Inn delayed due to supply and labor issues

Due to labor and supply chain issues, it will be another six months before the new Hampton Inn along Route 47 in Huntley is ready to open, the building developer said.

Henry Patel, president of Woodstock Hotel Inc. and developer of the new hotel, was granted a six-month extension on Thursday for construction of the hotel by Huntley Village Council. Patel originally planned to open the hostel by the end of 2021.

“Construction of the Hampton Inn continues to advance, but the construction schedule has been extended due to a number of factors with contractors and equipment suppliers,” Patel wrote in a letter. at the village. “Many of these businesses are hampered by the COVID pandemic and the resulting labor shortages and supply chain issues. “

Patel said all parts of the project have been delayed. The developer is still working on finishing the drywall, installing the internet and buying furniture, he said.

“Let us pray and hope that you will be open in the spring, at least Easter, and we are really proud that you have brought this hotel to our city,” said administrator Ronda Goldman.

Patel said he believes he can open the hotel before the end of June.

The four-story, 100-room hotel is under construction at the intersection of Route 47 and Route Powers and was approved by the Board of Directors in July 2020.

It will include an indoor pool, breakfast room and meeting room, bringing the total cost of the village’s first large hotel to $ 11.5 million last summer, said Melissa Stocker, economic development specialist. , marketing and recruitment of the village.

Building the hotel also comes with some financial incentives for the company, Mayor Tim Hoeft said, including a tax refund of $ 3 per night over the next five years.

Hoeft and administrator Curt Kittle have said they want the remaining months of construction to be transparent because of the incentives the Patel Hotel can receive from the village when it is open. They suggested Patel provide the village council with monthly progress updates.
